UOP: Questions about DQ Posting

Frequently Asked Questions about DQs and Deadlines:

1. Does the Late Policy apply to Discussion Questions?

Yes. DQ responses have specific due dates. Therefore, the Axia Late Policy and standard deductions apply.

2. Can a student earn points for a DQ response posted after the Read-and Discuss week in which it was due?

Yes. According to the Axia lateness policy, 10% should be deducted for each day the DQ response is late, and the response should be accepted up to four days late, for a total deduction of 40%. For DQs that are due Thursday or later, that four-day range will extend into the first days of the subsequent Work Week.

3. Does this mean that students can earn participation points during a Work Week?

No. The policy stated above only applies to the initial response to the DQ, which is not counted as participation, but is graded as a separate assignment.

4. Is it OK for students to post their initial DQ responses before the Read-and-Discuss Week?

Yes. The facilitator posts the DQ threads on Sunday, before the Read-and-Discuss Week begins, and sometimes students will post their initial DQ responses right away, on that Sunday as well. That’s fine. In this case, the DQ response should be counted for the Read-and-Discuss week.
5. When is the feedback for Discussion Questions due?

Feedback on DQ responses is due within 7 days of the end of the Read-and-Discuss Week. The feedback should be published within the Gradebook, with the weekly feedback. Feedback on DQ responses should be qualitative and quantitative. Please refer to the recent Axia Highlight that went out regarding how to grade Discussion Questions and Participation.

6. Are Facilitators required to post late reminder notices for Discussion Question responses?

No. Facilitators are not required to post late reminders for Discussion Questions.
