Week 6: DQ 2

1.Great Posting! You have noted some excellent methods in aid of helping Kevin cope! In your opinion, if all of these measures were implemented could Kevin still have difficulty coping? If so, what other measures could be implemented in addition to the above mentioned? Thanks for Sharing!

2.Great Posting! You have identified important needs for Kevin! As Kevin is only 3 years old, there is a lot of information that must be conveyed to him. If you were the nurse working with Kevin, how would you go about this? Do you think you would be successful in aid of helping Kevin understand his treatment regimen? Thanks for Sharing!

3.Great Posting! You have discussed some good measures to implement with Kevin! If you were to work with Kevin, how would you get the nurse to spend more time with him? If the nurse was busy with other patients, would you request a family member to assist? Would that be appropriate? What are your thoughts? Thanks for Sharing!

However, If you were the nurse working with Kevin, how would you set the schedule you discussed? Do you think that Kevin would comply? Would you need intervention from his parents? 5.Great Posting! You are absolutely right! I can't image how it must have been for Kevin in the hospital with all the happenings taking place. I understand it must have been frighten for his mother also. However, how would you suggest the mother handle the situation with Kevin? Do you think she should have a backup family member present in the event she needs to be absence? Do you think she needs to be present at all times? What are your thoughts? Thanks for Sharing

6.Great Posting! I agree with your findings! When working with children, one must take extra measures to ensure the child can develop trust. It is already a scary thing to note being sick and not having that comfort level observed. If you were the nurse, how would you handle things?

7.Hi Anne: Great response! I agree especially in stressful times it is important for parents to seek rest. Thus, the mother may need to be absence in order to achieve this. However, what would be your suggestion for the mother to seek rest and attend to her child? Would it be appropriate for her to have a family member present in her absence? What are your thoughts? 8.Great response! However, what would you do if your employer would not allow you to miss any more days from work with the treat of termination? Would it be acceptable to have another family member present in your absence? What if it were an employer that was not understanding as it should? How would you handle this situation? 9.Great Posting! I agree with your findings! I think it is very important to inform the child at their age appropriate level why the parent may not be able to be with them for a period of time. Thus, as Sarah is 9 she should be able to understand while knowing that her mother loves her and would not leave her. Thanks for Sharing!
